NEXT STAGE: Freshen in 2020
The freshened 2021 Volkswagen Atlas features a revised front facade and updated LED lighting front and rear on all trim levels. The Atlas will be available with a choice of two engines — a 276-hp, V-6 or a 235-hp turbocharged inline-four — mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is optional with either powertrain.
Volkswagen will introduce a series of aftermarket accessories at dealerships to give the freshened three-row 2021 Atlas crossover more of a rugged appearance. The accessories are modeled after the Atlas Basecamp concept, first shown a year ago at the New York auto show. They include a two-tone front bumper guard, textured fender flares with integrated splash guards, side-door rocker panels and an upgraded rear valance with trailer hitch access. The package also comes with special "Basecamp" badging.
The accessory package, which will be available before summer, is designed to further differentiate the larger Atlas from the newly introduced two-row Atlas Cross Sport.
