An air vent and a light. What do they have to do with each other?
Plenty, for Ningbo Joyson Electronic Corp., the Chinese parts maker whose stated mission is to become the world's biggest auto supplier.
Joyson last year fused the business that launched the company in 2004 — vehicle air vents — with new acquisition Quin, the storied German maker of luxury-class interior decor products, surfaces and lighting, to create JoysonQuin Automotive Systems, a supplier with a new idea about interiors.
JoysonQuin wants to sell automakers on the idea of rethinking their traditional air vents and instead viewing cabin air movement, interior design, accent lighting, decor and the electronics that run it all as a single system.
