An Audi concept unveiled Monday in Shanghai uses a Porsche-derived platform that underlies the popular Taycan to show how Audi intends to electrify its top-selling models.
The Audi A6 E-tron concept is built on Volkswagen Group's PPE architecture, which stands for Premium Platform Electric. Despite the familiar name, the only thing the concept sedan shares with the A6 midsize sedan is its rough dimensions.
A production version of the concept is expected to debut in Europe at the end of 2022, and it should make its way to U.S. dealers in 2023. The yet-to-be-shown Q6 E-tron crossover, built on the same platform, is expected to precede the A6 E-tron by a few months in both Europe and North America, Audi told journalists this month.
