Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida talks with Automotive News about electrification plans, autonomous driving, the brand's road to recovery in the U.S. and Nissan's relations with partner Renault.

The alliance says the partners will jointly launch 35 new EVs over the next five years. And they will pursue a common strategy to secure global battery production capacity of 220 gigawatt-hours by 2030.

Nissan's new plan calls for getting 40 percent of its U.S. sales from full-electric vehicles by 2030.
