Indicted former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn says he is stepping up the campaign to reclaim his legacy, calls Nissan "boring" and says its alliance with Renault is a "zombie."

Carlos Ghosn warns that old-guard companies such as Nissan must speed up their EV plans to stay competitive with newcomers.

Selling part of its 43 percent stake in Nissan could raise billions and ease long-standing tensions between the alliance partners.

The alliance says the partners will jointly launch 35 new EVs over the next five years. And they will pursue a common strategy to secure global battery production capacity of 220 gigawatt-hours by 2030.
