A Tokyo court is about to render a verdict on former Nissan director Greg Kelly in a closely watched ruling that has become a lightning rod of corporate and diplomatic maneuvering. The trial began in September 2020.

The appeal filing comes just days after the American – free from Japan on a suspended sentence – had a tearful homecoming to Tennessee and ensures his years-long legal odyssey will drag on.

Prosecutors made the case against the American defendant  as they delivered their closing argument in the long-running trial.
