A key group has avoided close scrutiny of their role in the once-powerful Carlos Ghosn's downfall: the lawyers.

Ghosn said of Renault's current management, including CEO Luca de Meo, who is leading the automaker's revival strategy, "It's all very well to make announcements about plans, but strategy is only 5 percent."
