Double-digit gains from three of Subaru of America's four crossovers led the brand to set an all-time monthly sales record in August.
Subaru sold 70,039 vehicles last month, an increase of 9.3 percent over August 2018 and marking the first time the brand has surpassed 70,000 sales in any given month. Subaru's previous monthly sales record, set in December 2018, was 64,541 vehicles.
August followed a strong July in which Subaru nearly reached that December mark, with sales of 64,106 vehicles.
The brand sold 17,110 Outbacks, 17,076 Foresters, 15,860 Crosstreks and 7,319 Ascents last month. Combined, Subaru's four crossover nameplates accounted for 82 percent of its sales in August.
With August's increase, Subaru's streak of year-over-year sales gains now stands at 93 months.
Subaru has sold 473,670 vehicles in the U.S. through August, an increase of 6.1 percent.
