Nissan Group's U.S. sales continue to slump as a difficult year, marked by a strategic shift away from fleet business and heavy discounting, enters its final month.
Combined Nissan and Infiniti U.S. deliveries fell 16 percent from a year earlier to 92,947 in November.
Nissan Division sold 83,562 cars and light trucks in the month, down 13 percent from a year earlier. Infiniti sales fell 33 percent to 9,385 vehicles.
There were few bright spots in November. Every nameplate suffered a year-over-year decline except the Altima sedan, Leaf EV and NV200 van. Nissan has now reported year-over-year sales declines for eight months of this year.
Buoyed by the Altima, Nissan's sedan sales eked out a 1.9 percent gain for November. Year to date, sedan volume is down 7.4 percent.
Altima sales rose 37 percent in November to 16,551. NV200 sales rose to 1,463, up 20 percent, to achieve a best November. Leaf sales edged up 1.1 percent to 1,140.
In a market heavily favoring crossovers, SUVs and pickups, Nissan brand's light-truck deliveries last month tumbled 22 percent from a year earlier. For the year, its truck sales were down 5.9 percent.
Sales of Nissan's midsize Frontier pickup fell 21 percent, while the full-size Titan continues to struggle.
Titan sales cratered 47 percent in November, compared with the same period a year ago. For the year, Titan sales are off 35 percent.
For November, Infiniti car sales dropped 32 percent, while truck sales fell 34 percent. The luxury brand, with sales down 11 straight months, suffered year-over-year declines across all nameplates.
