A former Pennsylvania dealership service technician accused of depositing his paychecks multiple times is facing 219 felony charges and 18 misdemeanor charges.
Max Strobel, 23, was charged with theft by unlawful taking, forgery and other crimes after he was accused of stealing $86,792 from his workplace, Phil Fitts Ford-Lincoln in New Castle, Pa., the New Castle News reported.
According to a criminal complaint the newspaper accessed, Strobel deposited his paychecks multiple times using the mobile deposit feature of his Capital One banking account.
Strobel deposited paychecks two or three times each for more than a year until Jan. 18, the paper reported. An office manager discovered the activity, and charges were filed against Strobel on Thursday, according to court documents.
Strobel told police he was aware of taking extra money, and a warrant was issued for his arrest, the paper reported.
Phil Fitts Ford-Lincoln declined to comment. Automotive News was unable to contact Strobel or a representative for him.
