Two Subarus and two Hyundais are among the 10 nameplates most commonly involved in accidents, according to a study by the website Insurify. Only one vehicle from a domestic brand — the Chevrolet Trax — made the list.
The Subaru Crosstrek, which is rated as a Top Safety Pick for 2019 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, is No. 1 on the list of most accident-prone vehicles over the past seven years, the site said. About 26 percent of the Crosstreks on the road today have been in a crash, vs. a U.S. average of about 14 percent for all vehicles, its analysis using 1.6 million insurance quotes found.
It was followed, in order, by the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Elantra GT, Infiniti Q50, Subaru WRX, Mazda3, Acura ILX, Lexus CT, Chevrolet Trax and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.
