GM issues stop-sale on some 2024 Silverados, Sierras for roof defect

General Motors has issued a stop-sale order on nearly 3,000 of its highly profitable Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickups because of a roof issue.

The stop-sale only affects some 2024 Silverados and Sierras, a Chevrolet spokesperson told Automotive News.

"We can confirm a small number of Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups may have been built with a roof panel split defect," the spokesperson said. "A stop-sale is in place as the impacted vehicles are identified and repaired."

The spokesperson said the issue has been corrected and additional production should not be affected. Customers with affected Silverados or Sierras are being instructed to contact a dealership to schedule a repair.

GM did not disclose the cause of the issue or additional details about the defect.
