Ferrari says a V-12 engine will power its first crossover, the Purosangue, when it is launched in coming months.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said the automaker tested several options, and that “it was clear that the V12, for the performance and driving experience it could provide, was the right option for the market."
Using a V-12 marks a break from Ferrari's recent strategy of focusing on V-8 and V-6-hybrid models, such as the recently unveiled 296 GTS.
