NEXT STAGE: New in 2021
The McLaren Artura plug-in hybrid merges a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine along with an e-motor and a battery pack. McLaren says the V-6 provides 577 hp and 431 pound-feet of torque, while the e-motor has an additional 94 hp. Combined, total output is 671 hp and 531 pound-feet of torque. McLaren says the Artura has a range of 19 miles when driven in its E-mode of pure EV driving. The Artura is the key model as the British marque transitions to a 100 percent electrified portfolio by 2026.
The plug-in hybrid is the first model on the company's carbon lightweight architecture, the first McLaren to feature a V-6 engine and the first model to offer a batch of advanced driver-assistance system features as the automaker puts a significant emphasis on Artura's technology and everyday livability.
Deliveries of McLaren's newest model, the Artura, will be delayed for a second time. The Artura's October 2020 market launch was delayed to June because of the pandemic. But software supplier-related issues have now pushed U.S. deliveries to late August or early September 2021, sources said.
