Ford Motor Co.'s biggest SUV is making big strides a few years after its redesign.
Executives at the Ford brand's NADA Show make meeting celebrated the Expedition's gains in a high-margin business that has contributed heavily to increased dealer profitability, retailers at the meeting told Automotive News.
Ford officials said the SUV roughly doubled its retail market share year over year, to more than 30 percent in 2019.
U.S. sales of the Expedition jumped 58 percent last year, and Ford has had to boost production twice at the Louisville, Ky., plant where it is built.
Ford redesigned the vehicle in 2017, its first major overhaul in two decades.
