Former Toyota and Chrysler executive Jim Press has joined the board of private equity firm AVC Capital Group to consult on automotive industry investments, the firm said.
Press spent 37 years at Toyota, rising to operations chief. In 2007, he left to join Chrysler, where he was vice chairman, co-president and later deputy CEO until late 2009.
Press also brings extensive dealership operations experience. After Chrysler, he joined U.S. dealership group McLarty Automotive Partners as president of international operations. Today, he is executive vice president of McLarty Cos. He also is a senior adviser to Nissan-Renault.
AVC Capital Group backs Doppler Automotive, a digital automotive retailing platform. Press will consult for Doppler and other holdings within AVC Capital, the firm said.
