Cadillac will bring its U.S. dealers onto General Motors' digital retailing platform beginning in the second quarter and will not limit it to electric vehicles as initially planned, GM executives said.
The online sales tool, powered by automotive technology provider Tekion, launched with the electric Chevy Bolt and initially was discussed as a way to drive EV sales. But executives told Automotive News that thinking has evolved, and Cadillac's full portfolio, including gasoline models, will be offered on the digital platform at the same time.
"That's one of the things that you learn as you go through it," GM North America President Steve Carlisle said. "As the tool developed and we started to deploy it and as we accelerated the transformation, it made sense to us — and, again, with the support of our dealers."
