NEXT STAGE: Redesign in 2020
The redesigned 2020 midsize crossover launched with several engine offerings for the U.S. They include 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo engine on the GLE 350 and GLE 350 4MATIC that produce 255 hp and a GLE 450 4MATIC with a 3.0-liter inline-6 Turbo with EQ Boost producing 362 hp. The 2020 GLE includes an adjustable second row, and a third row is available as an option.
New for 2020 is the GLE 580 4MATIC, which features a biturbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine paired with a 48-volt on-board electrical system and integrated starter/generator. The combination can add 21 hp and 184 pound-feet of torque to the engine's base output of 483 hp and 516 pound-feet of torque.
A redesigned GLE Coupe will make its world debut this year and is expected to arrive in the U.S. in first-half 2020.
