Mercedes-Benz G class
NEXT STAGE: Freshen in 2023
The second-generation G class received a long overdue redesign in late 2018 and is now bigger, lighter and more luxurious than its predecessor. With more extensive use of lightweight materials, the SUV has shed 375 pounds.
The base G class has a 4.0-liter turbocharged V-8 engine. A new nine-speed automatic transmission with a torque converter specifically adapted for off-road requirements also helps lower fuel consumption. A freshening could come in second-half 2023.
