What the 'planet protectors' think of Tesla, Toyota

Neither the rightward tilt in the political stance of Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk nor Toyota Motor Corp.’s EV reticence have diminished those brand’s reputation among the eco-conscious.

Survey research firm YouGov looked at how respondents it considers “Planet Protectors” viewed those companies compared with the broader American population.

Tesla was the clear leader in sustainability perceptions among both groups. Tesla was the top pick for 24 percent of Planet Protectors and 23 percent of the general U.S population as the leader in environmental stewardship, according to YouGov. Toyota was second with 22 percent of Planet Protectors and 16 percent of the general population.

The data is based on continuously collected data and rolling surveys, rather than from a single limited questionnaire.
