Automotive News Publisher KC Crain spoke with Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG, about how Formula 1 engineering innovations are shaping the auto industry’s future as part of Automotive News' first F1-focused event Friday at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. 

Schiebe is head of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Mercedes Maybach business units.

For years, F1 has been known as a powerful proving ground for automotive technology and helps the industry at large push the boundaries of advanced engineering. Many of the innovations developed in F1 eventually trickle down to consumer vehicles, and automakers around the world are increasing their investment in racing to leverage this technology in mass-market vehicle development.
