DETROIT — On the day before the UAW launched its historic strike against all three Detroit automakers, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer toured the Detroit auto show and said she was hopeful a deal could be made.
"Of course I'm worried about it," Whitmer said hours before the strike deadline. "I think this is an incredibly important industry. I think we're all concerned about it, and I think it's in everyone's best interest to stay at the table."
Her comments echoed an undercurrent of worried waiting at the auto show.
