TO THE EDITOR:
Ford is so close to getting it right with the new Maverick ("Ford aims to redefine entry level with 2022 Maverick," autonews.com, June 8). Give us a standard or extended cab, and a bit more truck bed, and they'd have it about right.
Sure, I'd rather have a body-on-frame construction, and the 40-foot turning radius (typical of front-wheel drive) negates some of the benefits of the pickup's compact size, but the price is right. Weekday commuter, weekend hauler, send your kid to college in it — it's a compact, practical and economical transportation alternative to a crossover.
