TO THE EDITOR:
I'm 75 years old, so you are welcome to call me an old guy who just isn't keeping up with the times; you'd be wrong, of course, because I've kept up with the science and want absolutely nothing to do with electrified cars, including hybrids. I have solid reasons.
First, the whole electric car industry was promoted on the notion that man is responsible for global warming, but a critical look will show that we will continue to have significant climate change, with or without human intervention.
Guess what it takes to create the batteries? A lot of fossil fuels. When the batteries fail, it will cost you a lot to replace them, using a lot more fossil fuels to create more batteries. Why would anybody pay for the car and then pay for new batteries? In the interim, recharging the batteries uses fossil fuels.
Add to that notion that there is currently no easy way to dispose of the lithium batteries, and explain to me how they help save the planet from anything.
Using my tax money to encourage us to buy electric cars really makes me mad at those who passed and continue to support faulty legislation.
Check the sales records and ask people why they aren't buying EVs (or why they are) and listen to the reasons, then figure out if the reasons make any sense at all.
