TO THE EDITOR:
Hats off to Automotive News for the debut of DE&I at Work (July 12), the monthly report dedicated to showcasing stories about the diversity challenges, successes and setbacks in the automotive industry. And to Cheryl Thompson, for her dedication and perseverance to diversity in automotive ("Driving change," July 12).
I was especially drawn to the question "How does DE&I apply to car dealers — and not just the big groups that have more resources, but for an individual store or a small family-owned group?" It's been my observation that even though the large dealership groups have more resources, they have been hesitant to formally appoint a chief diversity officer, someone with a title that publicly matches the group's commitment to diversity.
