EV cost comparison omits maintenance

I listened with interest to several interviews with industry experts and read several articles in Automotive News. Every comparison only looks at the cost of ownership for electric vehicles versus gasoline-powered vehicles over a five-year period, plus tax incentives.

They failed to take into consideration the cost of maintaining the vehicles, such as oil changes, transmission and cooling system services, the 12-volt battery that would not last five years in the majority of cases and brakes, which last a very long time with the regenerative braking system in EVs.

Seems like a pretty obvious omission of these costly maintenance items.
