TO THE EDITOR:
I entirely agree with "A rich CES experience, miles away from Vegas" (The Intersection newsletter, Jan. 9). CES is an all-important show. To my utter amazement, the German national newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote a column headed "Lonely in Vegas" just before CES started. It went on to say that shows like this had become redundant.
Why so? Where else can experts and interested folks meet, exchange opinions, have solid debates, etc.? Virtual press conferences are a sometimes necessary curse — e.g., Bosch, which did not come across well at all. But in the evening, we (a team of international journalists) met the North American CEO and his team in our "House of Journalists" for in-depth talks. That was brilliant!
