These four automakers are very smart ("Four automakers, California strike compromise on vehicle emissions," autonews.com, July 25). They know that to sell products globally, they have to be globally competitive on carbon dioxide emissions.
The administration's lack of regard for humans' climate impact and rolling back fuel economy standards will just position the U.S. auto industry as "a bunch of dinosaurs guzzling gas." Meanwhile, the rest of the world moves forward, and America will be left behind.
Ford, VW, BMW, Honda — well done! You are responding to your future customers' needs, and they will thank you for that.
