3 suggestions for Ford CEO Jim Farley

TO THE EDITOR:

I have been involved on the retail side of Ford Motor Co. since 1976. I would like to share my opinion on three things. 

No. 1: We all drank the Tesla Kool-Aid. Now that we have recovered, it is going to take smaller steps than one big leap to full electric vehicles.

No. 2: My understanding is that you want to drop the Escape in 2025. Please reinvest in this model. We cannot afford to give this market to Toyota and Honda. It brings customers of all ages into our stores. Lincoln also needs to retain the outstanding Corsair for similar reasons. Both cars are at a great price point.

No. 3: The Bronco and Bronco Sport are both world-class, outstanding products that play well together. Let us learn something from this. Keep the current Mustang as is, from the Ecoboost to GT to the Shelby to the amazing GTD. Heck, go ahead and produce the four-door coupe! 

That being said, we must do the Mustang Sport. The 1966 recipe still works. Make it look like a Mustang. You obviously made the Bronco Sport look like a Bronco. Make it affordable. Give it a long option list (Remember the Pony Package interior?).

I promise we will sell everything you can build. Mr. Farley, you are a car guy and I appreciate your efforts.
