2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35
Mercedes-Benz, driving to combine affordability and performance luxury, will introduce the 2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 at the New York auto show. The four-door coupe is powered by a high-torque, 2.0-liter Inline-four turbo engine based on the M260 four-cylinder engine in the new A class. The engine delivers 302 hp and propels the car from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.6 seconds. The vehicle has a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and variable all-wheel drive. It will be available in U.S. dealerships starting late this year. The CLA was the only Mercedes sedan to increase U.S. sales last year, rising 9.1 percent from 2017 to 22,556. The AMG version brings a sporty touch to the CLA’s exterior. The new grille with classic twin louvers is a distinctive feature of the CLA 35. Other distinguishing characteristics include chrome trim elements in the outer air inlets. The rear bumper sports a new diffuser insert, the trunk has a small spoiler lip and two round tailpipes on the left and right dominate the rear view. To boost driving performance, a bolted aluminum plate under the engine increases the stiffness of the front section of the CLA 35. Two additional diagonal braces at the front of the underbody reduce torsion and increase rigidity.
