In what will be an end to one of the longest gestation periods in modern automotive history, Volkswagen will finally launch the U.S. version of its ID Buzz minivan in the second half of 2024, some 7.5 years after first showing the concept at the 2017 Detroit auto show.
The three-row, battery-electric minivan is the first of at least three new BEVs coming to the German brand's U.S. lineup between now and 2027, including a sedan, a three-row crossover and a new, smaller version of the ID4 compact crossover meant to lower the brand's EV entry-level price point.
Meanwhile, VW will continue to update its combustion-powered vehicles in advance of its transition to an all-BEV lineup by 2033.
