Infiniti moves upscale as it revamps lineup

Infiniti is steering its U.S. product lineup upscale and electric.

At a meeting last year, executives showed Infiniti's North American retailers the path forward. It kicks off with a quartet of new and redesigned models arriving in stores this decade.

The product offensive starts with the redesigned, six-figure QX80 flagship this summer. The tricked-out, three-row QX80 will test Infiniti's ambition to win over Cadillac and Lincoln customers. Infiniti told dealers it expects about 75 percent of the large SUV's buyers to be new to the brand as it targets customers who make at least $250,000 a year and have $1 million net worth.

In 2026, Infiniti will tackle a new segment with a two-row midsize crossover. And the brand is said to be exploring a hybrid version of the Nissan Rogue that would slot below the compact QX50 crossover.

In the decade's second half, Infiniti will join the electric vehicle race with a battery-powered fastback sedan and a compact crossover built at parent Nissan Motor Corp.'s Canton, Miss., factory.

Electric compact crossover: Deliveries of Infiniti's first battery model could begin in 2027. The vehicle is based on the Vision QXe concept, which features a pronounced front fascia and a light bar spanning its width.

Electric compact sedan: Production was scheduled to start in 2026 but is now expected to be several years later than that, as Nissan said it would build electric crossovers first in Canton.

Dealers describe the fastback sedan as a "striking evolution" of the discontinued Q70. The EV sports a new headlight and taillight design — a single light strip spanning the vehicle's width. The rear is sporty and Porsche-like.

QX80: Infiniti's large SUV received a bold redesign and a bolder sticker price this summer.

The third-generation QX80 SUV wears the boxy look of a Range Rover and a price topping $100,000. Under the hood, the 450-hp 2025 model swaps a thirsty V-8 for a fuel-efficient twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine that delivers 50 hp more than the outgoing generation.

The brawny QX80's long hood carries through from the shoulder line and combines with a wide stance and large-profile wheels. The redesigned SUV's front will feature Infiniti's updated 3D logo and a prominent double-arched grille. In the rear, a lighting element runs the width of the SUV.

The QX80 should be freshened in 2028.

QX60: The midsize crossover received an engine upgrade this summer. It carries a 268-hp variable compression turbo engine that delivers a performance similar to a V-6 from four cylinders.

Infiniti's bestseller will be freshened in the second half of 2025, debuting a boxier look that has earned it the name "baby QX80."

The three-row QX60 adopts the QX80's large grille and slim headlight design. It gets the upgraded sound system and infotainment tech that debuted in the new QX80.

In 2028, the model could receive an electrified powertrain and a battery-only variant.

QX65: Infiniti's new two-row midsize crossover arrives in 2026, targeting the segment it had served with the discontinued QX70.

The coupe-like QX65, the brand's first new nameplate since the QX55 joined the lineup in 2021, rides on the QX60 platform and features the same upgraded four-cylinder powerplant.

But the new crossover ditches the boxy styling of its three-row sibling, instead sporting a sharply raked rear window, shark fin-like taillights and a sporty version of the new QX80's grille.

The interior is described as a sportier version of the QX60.

According to AutoForecast Solutions, ouput of the QX65 begins in Smyrna, Tenn., in March 2026.

QX50: Production of the QX50 ends in August 2026. But Infiniti could extend the nameplate.

QX55: Output of the coupe-like compact crossover is forecast to end in August 2026 with no second generation planned. Infiniti could extend the lifecycle.

The QX55 shares a platform and design elements with the QX50.

Q50: Production of Infiniti's sole sedan model ended this spring. The Q50 market will be targeted with a battery-powered sedan.
