Kansas City economic development officials believe they have a serious shot at landing Virgin Hyperloop One, the proposed futuristic transit project that is now reviewing U.S. location proposals. Authorities there have taken an early lead in completing a feasibility study to incentivize the project, which would move travelers from city to city in a pod through a tube at 600 mph. Kansas City wants to give the Hyperloop a 250-mile route to St. Louis. The project could be a transportation industry bonanza. The system would require infrastructure investment of between $8 billion and $10 billion, in addition to attracting technology suppliers to the area to support the project.
