Dodge performance on tap from variety of sources

Dodge isn't done with internal combustion engines, but it's moving away from the roar of the Hemi V-8.

The brand is instead turning to its 3.0-liter Hurricane inline six-cylinder engine that has been rolling out in the Ram 1500 as well as the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs.

The upcoming gasoline-powered version of the Charger will be offered with standard and high-output versions of the Hurricane when it arrives in 2025. The electric Charger Daytona Scat Pack comes to market first this summer.

New crossover: A five-passenger crossover, built on the STLA Large platform and possibly called the Stealth, is expected in 2026, according to AutoForecast Solutions. The versatile platform can support internal combustion and electric powertrains.

Durango: The 710-hp Durango Hellcat is returning for the 2025 model year with a special edition. Production of the current Durango is expected to run through 2025, according to a product schedule from the UAW. The union said the next generation of the large SUV may arrive in 2027 on the STLA Large platform and have electric and gasoline variants.

Hornet: The Hornet, a sibling of the Alfa Romeo Tonale, debuted in 2023. The plug-in hybrid R/T variant offers more than 30 miles of electric range. The compact crossover's conventional gasoline-powered version is called the GT. A freshened model could emerge in 2028.

Charger: The 2024 Charger Daytona Scat Pack delivers 670 hp with a 260-mile range and a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.3 seconds. Another option is the 496-hp Daytona R/T trim level, with a range of 317 miles. The electric coupes are heading to dealerships soon. Production of four-door versions begins in the first quarter of 2025. The gasoline-powered 550-hp Charger Sixpack H.O. coupe features the high-output version of the Hurricane engine, while the 420-hp Charger Sixpack S.O. sedan has the standard-output engine. Production is slated to start in the second half of 2025.
