Bold design and performance aren't leading to much success in the U.S. for Alfa Romeo.
The 4C coupe is gone, while a forecaster said the high-powered 8C expected in 2022 has been canceled. That leaves the Giulia sedan, 4C Spider and Stelvio crossover to carry the load for the Italian luxury brand. An FCA US spokesman said this month that the automaker isn't yet releasing information on 2020 models.
Reinforcements could be on the way with several crossovers, including the Tonale that would slot below the Stelvio.
4C Spider: Alfa Romeo unveiled a limited-edition 2020 4C Spider Italia in February at the Chicago Auto Show, but production was limited to 15 vehicles.
Giulia: The sport sedan is due for a redesign in 2023.
Tonale: The crossover could arrive in 2022 and reside below the Stelvio. It debuted in March at the Geneva auto show as a plug-in hybrid concept.
Stelvio: A redesign of the compact luxury crossover could emerge in 2024. The spry Quadrifoglio trim boasts 505 hp and zips from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 176 mph.
