The ability of manufacturers and their dealership partners to sell more parts online recently got a boost.
In late October, Walmart reached an agreement with RevolutionParts, a provider of digital commerce solutions to about 1,600 auto dealerships, to feature dealerships' products on the retail giant's Walmart Marketplace website.
Walmart Marketplace shoppers will gain access to hundreds of thousands of genuine automaker parts, as consumers have on other big retail sites such as Amazon and eBay. The move will allow more dealerships to get their parts inventory in front of more shoppers around the country.
Mike Rich, director of marketing at RevolutionParts, of Phoenix, said online parts selling is growing "at a really rapid pace." He said sales through online channels grew about 30 percent last year and are on track to increase 30 percent again in 2021.
