EVs had a higher average repair cost than non-EVs, as well as longer repair times and a higher percentage returned for additional work after the customer picked up the vehicle, according to the 2022 Crash Course Report from CCC Intelligent Solutions.

Here is a look at some of the report’s findings.

■ Average total cost of repairs, small nonluxury cars
EV models: $4,041
Non-EV models: $3,191
Difference: 27%

■ Labor hours per repair day, small nonluxury cars
EV models: 1.9
Non-EV models: 1.7

■ Percentage of those vehicles returned to shop
EV models: 9.8%
Non-EV models: 9.5%
