Overcoming the parts shortage and supply chain issues requires hard work, planning and foresight, a panel of parts experts said during the Sept. 27 Fixed Ops Journal Forum.
It also takes communication between parts department staff and the rest of the service department as well as between service advisers and customers, who might have to wait weeks for a part needed to finish a repair. Despite the challenges, there are opportunities to grow a dealership's parts business.
The panel was part of the forum's focus on parts and collision issues. The parts panelists were: Jeff Daniel, service director at Maple Hill Auto Group in Kalamazoo, Mich.; and Kaylee Felio, sales and marketing manager at PartsEdge in San Diego.
