F&I data: Transaction type varies among top leased EVs

In the second quarter of 2024, 47 percent of new electric vehicles were leased, according to Experian.

Experts largely credit the recent EV leasing boom to government incentives that make it more affordable.

But transaction types can vary widely for even the top leased EVs in the U.S. For example, 56 percent of new Tesla Model Y buyers purchased their vehicle with a loan in the second quarter, while 24 percent of Model 3 buyers did the same.
