F&I data: Captives gain finance market share in Q2

Experian data shows banks and credit unions' share fell.

Captive finance companies continued to gain market share of total automotive financing in the second quarter of 2024.

The captives' growth came as banks and credit unions' market share fell in the quarter.

Interest rates remained high throughout the quarter. The captives' incentives likely proved attractive to consumers, said Melinda Zabritski, Experian's senior director of automotive financial solutions.
