NEW LONDON, N.H. — Auto industry executive Gwain Gillespie died April 17 at age 89. In the early 1960s, he was recruited to Chrysler Corp., where he became general manager of Dodge Trucks. In 1970, he was tapped to run Simca/Chrysler France. Three years later, he was named president-director of Chrysler Europe. He returned to Detroit in 1976 to become executive vice president/CFO of Chrysler before leaving the company in 1978.
