COLUMBUS, N.C. — Auto dealer Walter Otto died Sept. 3 at age 77. He started working in General Motors’ zone office in Southfield, Mich., in 1967, then transferred to New York as a field manager for 25 Oldsmobile dealerships. Six years later, he became general manager of an Olds store in Penfield, N.Y. He opened his first dealership, Otto Oldsmobile, in Albany, N.Y., in 1976. He added other stores in New England that sold Cadillac, Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer and Isuzu vehicles. He retired in 2020 and sold his remaining dealership, Otto Cadillac, to a nephew.
