Megadealer Terry Taylor is the new owner of the most expensive home in Aspen, Colo. — a ski-in, ski-out mansion with a bowling alley and a breakfast room that rotates to provide panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains.
Taylor, who keeps a low profile but is believed to own more dealerships than anyone else in the U.S., bought the 20,000-square-foot residence for $76 million through a limited liability company, The Wall Street Journal reported last week.
The seven-bedroom home, built in 2020 by developer Leathem Stearn, has a seven-car garage and an office overlooking a 60-foot indoor lap pool. It was constructed with walnut panels imported from Poland, stone from Ukraine, and porcelain tile and onyx marble from Italy.
Stearn — who, like, Taylor lives full time in Florida — rented out the house for $50,000 a night when he wasn’t there.
“The buyer got himself a great property, and I hope he enjoys it half as much as I did,” he told the Journal. “It’s a great lifestyle compound.”
Stearn was asking $95 million. He provided a $25 million credit in exchange for another home in Aspen that Taylor bought for $6 million in 2000.
Taylor, 72, also paid $18 million in April for a beachfront penthouse in Palm Beach, Fla. His business, Automotive Management Services Inc., is based in West Palm Beach.
