A lawyer is suing a Kia dealership in Kentucky after getting a promotional mailing that he claims was misleading, but he offered to drop the case if the store publicly apologizes.
Adam Mellor said he received an advertisement from Kia Store Elizabethtown that insinuated he had won $15,000 or a new car. He told The News-Enterprise in Elizabethtown that he was immediately suspicious but went to the store to find out more.
"I've seen these before," he said. "I believe the language said I won $15,000, but I also believed there was something behind it when I showed up to say, 'Hey, I won this,' I wasn't going to get $15,000."
Instead of $15,000, Mellor said the store gave him a $1 scratch-off lottery ticket. He filed suit in August seeking $75,000 in damages.
