Ferrari store in California bought by Canada's Holand Automotive Group

A Canadian dealership group focused on the luxury and performance segments made its first foray into California with the purchase of Ferrari South Bay in the greater Los Angeles area.
 
Holand Automotive Group, of Mount Royal, Quebec, west of Montreal, said the acquisition, which closed on June 29, is the next step in its U.S. growth strategy. It owns a dozen other high-end dealerships in Quebec and Florida. Holand Automotive bought Ferrari South Bay in Torrance, Calif., from Mattioli Automotive Group, which built the dealership in 2014.
 
“Having Ferrari South Bay as part of our portfolio of marquee brands will allow us to focus on growth and to slowly expand our footprint” in the U.S., company CEO Gad Bitton said in a statement.
 
The store, south of Los Angeles, is Holand’s second Ferrari location. It also owns Ferrari Quebec in Montreal. The dealership group represents other high-end brands such as Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, BMW and Maserati at locations, several of them shared, across Quebec City, Montreal and Palm Beach, Fla.
 
Holand’s purchase follows a rising number of Canadian dealers and groups who have bought U.S. dealerships, including many in California, in the past several years.

Holand said Eddie Brodsky, the store’s longtime general manager, along with the “experienced” sales and service staff will stay on following the acquisition.
 
Mattioli Automotive sold Ferrari Silicon Valley in Northern California to indiGO Auto Group in 2020. Mattioli Automotive still owns two Ferrari dealerships, both in California, a Ferrari spokesperson said.
 
Along with its series of luxury stores, Holand Automotive operates a leasing division and last summer purchased Circuit Mont-Tremblant, a racetrack in the resort town northwest of Montreal.
