Fox Motors buys Subaru, Buick-GMC dealerships in Detroit area

Fox Motors further expanded its Detroit area presence on Monday with the purchase of two dealerships.

Fox Motors, of Grand Rapids, Mich., bought Sellers Subaru in Macomb and Sellers Buick-GMC in Farmington Hills from Sam Slaughter.

The stores were renamed Fox Subaru Macomb and Fox Buick-GMC. The transaction also included an Isuzu commercial truck center and a collision center, both in Farmington Hills.

"We have been strategic with our growth in metro Detroit these last two years and are excited to expand our footprint with General Motors and Subaru given our strong relationships with both brands," Daniel DeVos, CEO of Fox Motors, said in statement. "And we are excited to add Isuzu Truck to our lineup."

The acquisition was Fox's first since it bought three dealerships, also in metro Detroit, from Ken Garff Automotive Group in July, the auto retailer confirmed.

Fox Motors first entered southeast Michigan in December 2021 with the purchase of two luxury stores. Fox also has dealerships in Ann Arbor.

Sellers Buick-GMC and Sellers Subaru were both past Automotive News Best Dealerships To Work For winners. Slaughter is a past chairman of the Detroit Auto Dealers Association.

Fox Motors ranks No. 76 on Automotive News' list of the top 150 dealership groups based in the U.S., retailing 13,244 new vehicles in 2021.
