Safford Brown Automotive bought Fairfax Hyundai on Dec. 12 from Sam Mansouri, according to John Hyland, a managing director of DCG Acquisitions, a Dave Cantin Group company, who brokered the transaction. The store was renamed Safford Brown Hyundai Fairfax.
Mansouri on March 4 sold Fairfax Kia, also in Virginia, to Ourisman Automotive Group. After divesting both of his dealerships, Mansouri plans to pursue other nonspecified opportunities, but could possibly return to auto retailing, according to Hyland.
Safford Automotive on Nov. 7 acquired 16 stores, including 14 franchised dealerships, in Maryland and Virginia, from Brown Automotive.
The Brown Automotive executive team joined the Safford Automotive team and the group was renamed Safford Brown Automotive.
Safford Automotive on Aug. 1 sold three dealerships representing Ford and Kia as well as Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram brands to Pohanka Automotive Group.
Safford Automotive ranks No. 104 on Automotive News' list of the top 150 dealership groups based in the U.S., retailing 9,847 new vehicles in 2021. Brown Automotive retailed 11,770 new vehicles in 2021, according to real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield, which represented Brown Automotive in the November deal.
