Group-wide sales at Volkswagen fell 9.1 percent to 3.85 million in 2020 with declines at the VW and Skoda brands eclipsing gains at Audi and Porsche.
It is the first sales decline the German auto giant has recorded in China since 2016.
VW brand deliveries slipped 9.8 percent to 2.85 million last year while Skoda volume slumped 39 percent to some 173,000, according to figures VW Group released this week.
Audi’s 2020 sales rose 5.4 percent to roughly 727,400 while Porsche deliveries gained 2.6 percent to around 89,000.
Despite the contraction, VW Group remains by far the largest automaker in China.
Last year, deliveries at General Motors, the No. 2 automaker in the market, dropped 6.1 percent to 2.9 million, according to figures disclosed by the Detroit automaker’s China unit last week.
