Valeo to produce components in Shanghai for smart vehicles

Valeo started constructing a plant in Shanghai’s suburban district Jiading on June 24 to further localize development and production of components for intelligent vehicles.

The factory, with a ground area of 322,920 square feet, will mainly develop and build components including cameras, lidars and domain controllers, the French supplier said.

The plant is expected to launch output in the first half of 2025, the Jiading district government said on its website. 

Additional details on the factory were not disclosed. 

Valeo operates 35 plants and 14 R&D centers in China. 

In 2023, the company's China sales advanced 10 percent to $4.1 billion, the French supplier said.
