China’s used light-vehicle market continued expanding at a double-digit pace so far this year, with the August volume rising 16 percent to approach 1.2 million deliveries.
Strong demand was registered across all segments of the market last month, the China Automobile Dealers Association said this week.
Sales of used crossovers and SUVs jumped 37 percent to some 166,500, while deliveries of second-hand minibuses advanced 15 percent to around 34,700.
Meanwhile, demand for used multi-purpose vehicles increased 14 percent to about 87,800 while sales of second-hand sedans gained 12 percent to 901,300.
Thanks to the rebound of nearly 100 percent in the first quarter from the virus-stricken year-earlier period, sales of used light vehicles in China through August surged 44 percent to top 9 million.
Despite the explosive growth, sales of used light vehicles still trailed deliveries of new light vehicles in the first eight months.
In the period, the new light-vehicle market expanded 16 percent from a year earlier to exceed 13.1 million, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
